When executing "mkdir test" within bash, the new directory called "test" gets created on the windows server, but the permissions are different then that of its parent folder. Is there a setting or flag that can be set so that when executing a mkdir in bash it treats it like mkdir in dos? Just looking to ensure that new files and directories created always inherit the permissions of the parent folder. The /etc/passwd and /etc/group files contain all appropriate entries.
You'll need to turn off all POSIX permissions code then. Do this by adding "nontsec" to your CYGWIN environment variable and stop all Cygwin processes. See <http://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/using-cygwinenv.html> and <http://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/ntsec.html> for more background. -- Larry Hall http://www.rfk.com RFK Partners, Inc.
