are you going to send the patch upstream? The usage of leading double slashes to specify implementation-defined paths is backed by SUSv3 (See http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/basedefs/xbd_chap04.html, Paragraph 4.11), so this is a portability issue which should be fixed upstream.
