Forgot to add: I had also experienced frequent crashes lately. I couldn't even run configure for Apache 1.3.34 without my computer going belly up. Well, now without Sunbelt Personal Firewall messing with things I tried it again and it worked just fine. As Larry Hall pointed out, it has to be a kernel-mode program to cause a crash.
