This isn't necessary if all you want is to be able to run the shell script from your desktop. You just need to create a shortcut that targets X:\Cygwin\bin\{bash,csh,sh}.exe -c /posix/path/to/script You may also wish to add some extra arguments to the shell for extra functionality.
