We have multiple developers on Windows 11 reporting that Cygwin 3.5.0 has a
regression that makes building LibreOffice fail with these types of messages:
0 [main] sh 1280 child_info::sync: wait failed, pid 1288, Win32 error 183
321 [main] sh 1280 dofork: child 1288 - died waiting for dll loading, errno 11
/usr/bin/sh: fork: retry: Resource temporarily unavailable
Any ideas about this?
For reference, our build instructions are here:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/BuildingOnWindows
what is failing to fork ?
One of our LibreOffice developers attempted to create a minimal reproducer,
without success so far. He said he has run into the same failure even before
3.5.0, so it is somehow intermittent. I know it's a big ask to try with our full
build, but if anyone is interested, we can provide support with any issues with
the initial setup.
How many threads/cpus are the builds using on failing systems?
Have you tried with the cygserver daemon setup using /bin/cygserver-config as a
service under cygrunsrv to support the max number of processes you are using?
[You can also run that with syslog-ng daemon setup using /bin/syslog-ng-config
as a service under cygrunsrv.]
