I'll do my best, but my order of operations when I got the failure was: 1) Spin up a brand new EC2 Windows 2008 64-bit instance 2) Log in 3) Install Cygwin I literally did nothing else. So, if there is some dodgy software causing an issue, I may not have the luxury of uninstalling it. I haven't tried it myself, but I am told the same does NOT happen on a 32-bit W2K8 instance.
