No, it won't, because there isn't anything outside the content-div on
narrow windows. I thought that was the whole idea, and you would have
found that much out yourself if you had bothered to shrink the window on
it... :-)
Remember: backgrounds don't occupy space, they just disappear when
there's no space left for them to occupy.

Can you define what you mean by "variable width content" a little better?
Either you introduce one or more variables, or the width depends more or
less on the window-width itself. Which combination are you talking about?
