Unfortunately the character is still there. It's definitely the "s" from the third menu item "HJVs". Cause if you place "HJVsx" in there, the hideous character turns into an "x" as well (or whatever character you put as the last one in that menu item.
Look at the "Update" section on the page I send you: http://www.positioniseverything.net/explorer/dup-characters.html. it says that other things can trigger the bug as well.
