Hello Robert!

It is always nice to see a post from someone with Kincaid ancestry in
County Tyrone. I may have some leads for you. First of all, is the
following Kincaid - Kyle marriage. James Kinkead of Lislaid married Mary
Jane Kyle, daughter of Frederick Kyle, of the adjacent townland of Mourne
Beg. An interesting witness was a Gregory Kyle. This could be related to
the family somehow.

On 19 July 1855, Joseph Kinkead, a full age bachelor farmer of Lislaird,
son of James Kinkead, farmer, was married to Mary Jane Kyle, a full age
spinster of Mournebeg, daughter of Frederick Kyle, farmer, at the Parish
Church of Termonamongan, Termonamongan Parish, County Tyrone according to
the Rites and Ceremonies of the United Church of England and Ireland by
licence. The witnesses were Gregory Kyle and John Kyle [Ireland. Civil
Registrations of Marriages. Castlederg District, 1855, vol. 3, p. 459, no.
66; LDS film no. 101364].

I next have the following entry from the Abercorn Estate records. There
was a Robert Kyle living across Lough Catherine in the townland of
Letterbin. On the opposite side were a bunch of Kinkeads of Baronscourt.
These Kincaids held a number of lots in Ballyrenan townland. One of their
neighbours in the mid 1700s was a William Thompson (no.3 and no. 12
Ballyrenan). William Thompson got some of his lands from Charles Kinkead,
son of Robert Kinkead. Robert Kinkead once lived at Letterbin. So you
see, everything comes full circle. My experience with these Kincaids was
that they tended to marry within a couple of families.

The paleing is quicked in the way your Lordship ordered from the side
opposite to John Kinkeads to Robert Kyles maireng in Letterbin; they are
growing exteamly well, and if they are preserved from the deer and sheep,
will I am sure thrive; we could not get quicks, else we would have
finished; what William Doyle had and a few that I raised, has done so farr;
I had as many crabs, as would have finished it, but he would not use them,
as he thought it would be partly possible to save them from the deer
[Public Record Office of Northern Ireland. D623/A/33/84 &
T2541/IA/1/5/84. Letter from James Hamilton at Cross to the Earl of
Abercorn dated 27 April 1759].

I hope these clues point you in the right direction. If you find anything
further related to your Robert Kyle and Letitia Kincaid, then let me know
please.

Best wishes!

Peter Kincaid
