Oddly enough that is the exact resolution the computer is set for in the "Display" settings and always has been while using the monitor for the past several years.
More of the situation since I posted the problem yesterday: I unplugged the monitor cable input from the Widescreen TV back to Gateway monitor. Again, no signal was detected for several minutes ... then after about 4-5 minutes, the Gateway Signal Detected notification came up just like it was doing when the problem began and the monitor came back on ... only this time, it didn't blink off and it stayed on. Since I was able to now see the monitor's Menu and Settings, I set everything back to DEFAULT. All evening, I used the computer & monitor for 10-12 hours not experiencing any blinking off problems whatsoever. Then eventually it was time to cut the monitor off. I was fully expecting the usual delay problem to occur ... only it didn't. I clicked the Power button for the monitor to cut on and it did so without any problem whatsoever. I clicked the monitor off and on several times and the Gateway detection signal came on every time without any delays. So I suppose setting everything back to the monitor's default settings solved the problem. It's possible that what originally caused the problem was being one of the 5 buttons on the side could have been pressed accidentally which readjusted a setting or something. We'll see. Thanks for your help though.
