I think STW is right, the problem is related to your Vista System Resources or the way Vista uses your SRs in two ways.
1. Vista (Any version except Basic) requires more system resources in general then previous Microsoft OSs. 2. The fact it works for a while but then stops working after an hour or so, is indicating you may or may not have enough RAM, but is also possibly your System Page File or other memory settings. Getting more RAM may solve your issue, but make sure to get the correct type and version of RAM, because they vary a lot.
