Hello,

organisation is stepping forward.

> In the second week of the Congress there will be some exhibition games
> between top humans and selected computer programs. ...

> 19x19 One game.
> Thinking times will be 60 minutes for each side or something very similar.
> The bot to play is CrazyStone. The human pro still has to be determined.
> (The process is underway. Likely we will find a very motivated player.)

We are proud to present CATALIN TARANU (5p, Romania)
as the opponent of CrazyStone. Catalin is one of the few European players
who became go professionals in Japan.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalin_Taranu

Catalin has experience in playing go bots, both on 9x9 and on 19x19. See
his games from 2008, 2009, 2010 in Nick Wedd's list:
http://www.computer-go.info/h-c/index.html

I know Catalin personaly from the old days, before the Monte Carlo revolution.
Back in 2003, he was a guest at Jena University, participating in some really
strange experiments on computer go.

In Bonn, he will get some opportunity for sparring games with CrazyStone
(on my i7 notebook) before August 01.

> Date: Wednesday, August 01, 2012
> 16:00-18:00 MEST
> The human gives either handicap 3, or handicap 4, or handicap 5.
> The human will get prize money when winning the game:
> 100 Euro in case of handicap 3,
> 200 Euro in case of handicap 4,
> 300 Euro in case of handicap 5.

We will see for what handicap Catalin opts...

Ingo.
