I notice 9x9 is played at komi of 7.5. And the ICGA tournaments also
seem to be played at 7.5.
Yet I believe pro games are still played at 6.5, at least in Japan [1].
FWIW, my own study suggests correct komi [2] is probably 6, maybe 5 or
7; 8 is looking more and more unlikely.

Did someone just take at a guess at 7.5 komi for an early tournament and
everyone else has copied since? Or was it based on some statistical
evidence? And are the tournaments showing a bias at 7.5 komi, or does it
seem to be working well?
