There's already a pretty satisfactory blokus server and a pretty active community of players, at blokus.com.
If computer go people are looking for easier worlds to conquer (call it educational training for the real challenge) there is no shortage of candidate games. One that has an active community of developers is arimaa, www.arimaa.com Also, I would personally like to have a better robot player for Hex at boardspace.net.
