### Change Logs
Fixes a bug where the index is updated even when there are failures while
writing to the file.
A new test is added for this case and an existing test is fixed to also run
against the FileGroupReaderBasedMergeHandle to ensure the existing behavior
still works.

Fixes bug that can lead to inconsistencies between the indexes and the data
