Ekaterina Dimitrova commented on CASSANDRA-14667:

{quote}Preferrably in another ticket for better transparency.
I dont know if we want the latest here. If I was paranoid I would say we dont
know if the latest works with Dropwizard.

In the past, we handled it in the ticket that triggered the need. In this case,
my understanding is that we explicitly get an older version and dropwizard asks
for a newer one but probably not the latest one?
{quote}we dont know if the latest works with Dropwizard.

Let's test. What if we upgrade in another ticket and then dropwizard doesn't
work with the latest version we updated to?
An example of a similar case handled in the past is CASSANDRA-18049. There was
also an ML discussion thread.

> Cassandra currently uses Metrics 3.1.5. Version 4.0.0 added some fixes for
> Java 9 compatibility. It would be good to upgrade the Metrics library as part
> of the version of Cassandra that adds Java 9 compatibility
> (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-9608).
