Thanks @aldettinger yeah, v5 uses the same FileLock impl https://github.com/eclipse/paho.mqtt.java/blob/master/org.eclipse.paho.mqttv5.client/src/main/java/org/eclipse/paho/mqttv5/client/internal/FileLock.java.
