I don't think the time it takes to render that is anything we should be worried about. It's imperceptive. It looks great behind menus, but really stupid when part of a window is translucent with a blurry background. And then it goes away when the window isn't active. Bwuh?! Why just list type thingies? That's a really dumb decision.
