Dear Apple, you have a major bug in Final Cut Pro that causes it to go kerflooey when its preferences get into a state it doesn’t expect. Please fix it. Marco, don’t you agree that (now, 10+ years into the OS X era) trashing prefs is the same kind of voodoo as fixing file permissions? That’s not to say there aren’t circumstances where those are the right things to do, but I think we’re beyond the point where they should be a regular part of any magical support incantation.
