On the contrary, I would suspect that it has been fully baked through many long
heated meetings and memos at Apple, selected as the least worst fix for this
corner case in which the the Auto Save clashes with an old tradition, in this
case WYSIWYG. I thought that NSBeep() was better for my app.

Here is an excerpt from a newsletter I just received from Smile Software…

"PDFpen 6.0.2 is now available from Smile. This update includes an option to
turn off autosave and versions."

Hmmmm. Two bug fixes after Autosave and Versions was adopted with great
fanfare in 6.0.0.

Indeed, there are some users, some documents, and maybe even some apps for
which ("Lion") Auto Save and Versions is not appropriate. Anyhow, I'm glad
that you and your marketeers appear to have have thought this through and know
what you're doing.
