They are the effectively the same and I couldn't see anything in your e-mail that proves otherwise. You appear to have proven that a subclass of NSArray doesn't happen to be a descendent NSCFArray (nobody asked that though) and you've proven that you can tell the difference between a subclass and a regular NSArray (but nobody asked about that either). There's one other point that I should make: there's nothing stopping you from using CFArray… functions on your NSArray subclass. So, I'm still confused, as I was before, not about the issue, but exactly what it is you're trying to say and how it's helpful with respect to the original problem.
