Hi Patrick,

The property list editor shows the root object key as "Root", but in fact the key is saved as 'root'.

I was unable to unarchieve my objects using 'unarchiveObjectWithFile' until I finally created a hex-dump and figured out that the only difference between the files was 'root' versus 'Root':

Did I miss a convenience method to create a compatible XML file?

I don't think you've missed anything, or if so, I missed it as well. I ran into exactly the same problem a while back and it wasn't important enough for me to solve, so I just abandoned it. If you haven't already done so, I think you should file a bug with Apple on this. Either a documentation bug that the "root" key should be clearly documented, or an additional method/constant for it; perhaps both would be useful.

Thanks for sharing, nice to know if I ever need it in the future.

~Martin
