Thanks for the suggestions.  I was not able to clear the clog with a plunger.   
That is partly because with a double sink, it is challenging to cap the other 
sink while plunging one.  But when I did get the second capped, all I succeeded 
in doing was blowing water past the sink/drain tube junction into the 
compartment under the sink.  What would be nice is something I can feed down 
the hose and through the seacock.  My next attempt will be to try some wire 
types and see if I can find something that works unless someone can suggest a 
suitably flexible but stiff solution.  Dave
