I believe I mentioned this previously, but my engine guru added an in-line
electric pump between the tank and the Dahl water separator to push the fuel,
instead of merely relying on the engine pump to pull the fuel, to eliminate air
bubbles being drawn into the fuel line system (which cause shut-downs and
require bleeding). We did not eliminate the engine fuel pump, just added a
pump to improve its efficacy. It also adds another in-line filter. I haven't
had an air bubble shut-down since.

Nate - for what it’s worth, you might first try replacing the 42 year old pump
with another that might last just as long. This is the simplest fix, the pumps
work well, are quite long lived, and have providing for manual operation to
bleed the system. I can’t really see an advantage to an electric pump in this
application. (Have used plenty in vintage car restorations)
