That's sad customer service at Edson.  

As someone already said, I believe it's the nine foot cable.  I replaced mine 
and found I needed to cut the cable.  I believe they recommended installing it 
and then taping the cable and cutting off the excess cable ends with a hacksaw 
or angle grinder.  It's pretty easy to do.  I believe there is a video on their 
website.
