I want to pass along a recent experience. I took some
family members out sailing over the weekend (Lake Erie), and we stopped for
a leisurely swim. Upon opening the lifeline gate, the gate eye fell into
the water and, for all intents and purposes, was unretrievable. On Monday
morning, I contacted Rigging Only (in Fairhaven, MA), which made the
lifelines nearly a decade ago, and asked to order a new gate eye. They
responded that I could have one free of charge. I replied that I want two
(to have a spare on board), and expedited shipping, and was happy to pay for
it. They sent two, expedited shipping, no charge.
I have been ordering halyards, sheets, lifelines, and
certain sailing hardware from Rigging Only for a long time. They have a
good selection of lines and hardware, are knowledgeable about what they sell
(and sailboats generally, especially Dan), and their prices are reasonable.
My recent experience reminded me why they are my go-to store for rigging
needs.
