I do not know about using Boric Acid with spiders, but I know my brother is in Dunkirk, NY and they have mucho spiders there. He uses peppermint oil, and it seems to work pretty well. He dabs soaked cotton balls around the compalionway, hatches, and portholes, and I believe docklines.
