Ditto to the topping lift. When I climbed onboard last nite, I heard the distinctive sound of a diaphragm pump running, except that I don’t have an automatic one. I checked the backstay, which usually sounds like a low resonant hum, but it was quiet. Put my ear on the boom, and it was loud! The spare halyard I had just put on as a temporary topping lift was alternately humming, I could literally see it shaking every second. These are a weird phenomenon.
