So, when you said a couple weeks ago, you bumped some rocks and were selling your Genoa, I am guessing it was a little more serious than you let on. And you may have lost your 41. Never been on a 41, but by what I see on YW, I would say you may miss the extra space. But on the bright side, you will need a foot and half less draft, which might help you. Judging by the keel on the 41, I would say it would point better than the 39, with that swept back keel. But once you crack off close hauled, the 39 does sail very well. Mine had a newer high aspect rudder, and it was very well balanced. Also sails very well with just a 135. I added a foot to the boom, to 14' and a large roach, which also made it sail much better - easily worth the 6 seconds PHRF nicked me for. Sails very sporty, and turns on a dime. A friend of mine bought a C&C 37 after sailing with me for awhile, got some nice new Hood sails, and we went sparing out in the lake, I would go for awhile, and then make a loop around him to let him catch up. I think it really irritated him that it wouldn't keep up, but on the bright side, he never raced his boat, so I kept him as crew. Also, you don't want to hold a chute up much past 20 knots. And like Jack says, it is a beautiful looking boat. Not that the 41 is a slouch by any means.
