Hello all,
I have a 1994 C&C 37/40+ with a Yanmar 3JH2E engine.  Interestingly, in the
breather vent line leading to the air filter, there is a fitting with a hole in
it that pretty clearly was intentionally installed, and even looks factory
fitted.
You can see it here:  Breather Vent Tube.jpg
That leads to the center of the air filter, and presuming a vacuum is created
when the engine is running, would mean the engine could be sucking in
unfiltered air through this small hole.

Do any of you know what the purpose of this fitting is?  It does not show up in
the overhaul or parts manual for this motor.  I am thinking of getting rid of
it.
Thoughts?
Thank you!
