As long as you keep the clear coat on, and protected, you should be good. My pole peeled a little, and I got some clear coat, but never got around to re-Applying it. I don’t think it will normally peel, unless it is nicked, then it starts. If you touch it up right away, you can nip it in the bud. They say a good polymer on the clear coat, like ReJex will do a good job of protecting the clear coat, while the clear coat protects the epoxy in the carbon fiber.
My neighbor has a clear-coat carbon fiber spar on his J-160, and I don’t think it has been touched since 1997. Or, if you want to baby it, I have seen some guys in the fleet put a little cloth bag under the boom, and store it there. Any better ideas? Are these covers commercially available or should I have one custom made? Many thanks in advance; Richard s/v Bushmark4: 1985 C&C 37 CB; Ohio River, Mile 596; Richard N. It’s strong, flexible enough and will be easier to source too. Len Sent from my iPad _______________________________________________ Thanks everyone for supporting this list with your contributions.
