Hi Mike, I respect your point, but I'm somewhat offended by it. I do take the pandemic seriously. I take all precautions, keep a distance, wash my hands, and wipe disinfectant wipes on things regularly. When I get a package from Amazon, we use gloves to move it from the front steps to our enclosed back porch where we leave it alone for 24hrs, the expected time the virus can live on cardboard. I have no symptoms and I follow all the protocols, and respect the health of others. I'm 65 so I've been around the block a few times. There is much more risk shopping amongst other shoppers who pass each other in the asles and also touch the same shopping carts and credit card checkout screens, than me working on my boat, alone when the nearest person is 100 feet away from me.
Google how many Americans die from the usual flu each year and the number will surprise you. It's estimated to be 23000 to 59000. That's more than traffic deaths. I believe in the warnings and support all of the protocol for Covid 19, but keeping me from maintaining my boat, my property, does not reduce the risks for Covid-19. I drove I-95 today and traffic was about 20% of normal, not because of Covid -19 deaths, but because of the state restrictions. I would also estimate truck traffic is double normal for obvious reasons. Landscapers are allowed to work all over my neighborhood but I can't work on my boat? WTF!!! Hopefully, the marinas come to their senses.
