Tom,

Upon launch one Spring, I started the engine and there was no water coming out of the exhaust.  After much searching , discovered the top of the raw water strainer was not tightened sufficiently and air was leaking in.  I always empty the strainer bowl of water before winter lay up and because the metal is soft (brass I think) I don't want to over tighten the wing nuts.

Don't know if you has the top off your strainer but if you did, check the tightness of the nuts on the cap.

I have checked the intake, pump, strainer, heat exchanger, mixing elbow.  All are clear, elbow is new.  Still, no water out exhaust.

I am wondering if the vented loop between the heat exchanger and mixing elbow could be the culprit.  It is even necessary on my boat?  Seems that the elbow is well above the water line and the loop could be bypassed.

The  only other possibility is the hoses on the suction side of the system collapsing on the inside...but that still seems unlikely.

Thoughts appreciated.
