I can’t speak about the Garhauer vang, but the Boomkicker would keep your boom too high if you don’t have it pulled down (by the vang or sheet). The rigid vang should be able to keep the boom’s weight (and then some).
I have no topping lift (a nuisance, as a few already mentioned) and I can keep the end of the boom where I want it (above the bimini).
