As I said previously, my boat also came with a RF 135 for cruising. As others are reporting, this size worked well to get around without the main when I was feeling lazy or, in my case, when there was a little too much breeze for the Admiral.

I run a full on 135 up to 18-20 knots. I am also guilty of just going out for a quick lazy sail/cruise using just this headsail in a nice steady 10 knots. Its also on a furler so I am sticking with it. If I could find a used race 150 for light winds I would consider it. Summer races can be little long…. Which I plan to try this year. Brian, a belated welcome to the "list"; as others have said much of the headsail selection depends upon your intended use and the prevailing winds in your local area; one other note is that our boats were designed in an era where the boat relies heavily on the headsail for power-unlike many of the newer designs which use big mains and tiny jibs; (personally I believe this has more to do with marketing than any improvement in design, but that's a whole other topic); I recently switched from a 150 down to a 135 cruising headsail and I find that I have plenty of power, without being overpowered, (except in extreme gusts, etc); it is easy to handle and does the job...the suggestions for a 125 are correct, but if you are in a light air area, like I am, you might add just a bit more sail area and look at the 135. I primarily cruise. I am over 60 years old and, although I enjoy the work of sailing, I dont want to make it too much work. My current headsail is a 155 and it is a lot of sail. The way I sail doesn't require that much. After posting this i would be wiser to have a 125 or so. I have a furler so I have no intent on changing sails.
