Even funnier...

Just for the fun of it, I fiddled around with the whole mess. I duct tapped
the lead wiring to a AA battery which I duct tapped to ground on stove body,
reattached fallen parts of the pushbutton switch and pressed... Lo and behold,
nice, strong sparking on range burner, but nothing on oven burner. Checked
that out, just a short in wiring under the stove, easy fix and now that stove
is sparking on all burners! Now that it works I will reassemble to bristol
shape in anticipation of next season!

As a bonus, I got a PDF file of the Stove/range manual for reference library
from a CnC lister from down South, thank you Peter W!

Sometimes it's the little things that makes a day!

Too funny!!  I just discovered this exact situation on Sunday ! . I finally dug
out the Manual 3(3 burner force 10 with broiler oven)  to locate the dang
Battery which I just could not find!
Reached under right bottom corner  and whala a rotten AA battery with juicy
broken black holder!  and yes just the 1 red wire. So now  2 butane lighters ()
2 fer $2.00 await the next spark needed ! too many other things to mess about
with ! and correct its seldom used ! 😊  If I head out cruising may reconsider.

Or you can put Lithium AA's in it and they'll last for years and not leak.

You have described exactly what most owners experience.  Yes the stove is
ground.  Yes the AA batteries leak and destroy the connections.  Yes it can be
fixed relatively easy.  You'll probably find that you only use the stove a
handful of times and that after a season the AA battery leaks again and
destroys your repair efforts.

I just use a butane grill lighter.

Hello all,

Slightly off C&C topic but the force 10 2 burner range in our C&C 30 MKII has
lost its igniter function at some point since 1988.  Did some digging last
night and found the battery compartment and wire under the stove and in very
bad shape. Seems the battery leaked and dissolved connections.  Oddly enough I
can only find a positive red wire going to battery from distribution box at the
back of the range, no negative wire? does the stove act as ground, I am missing
something?   Has anyone ever repaired or replaced the igniter component, it
would be great to hear your insight.  I looked for a force 10 manual online but
no luck!

Cheers,
