“Phygital” — when I bought my 1979 LF38 (hull #009) several years back, she had a folding Martec prop, which I hated. So I found the (most likely original) prop, a fixed 2-blade Michigan Sailer in a locker and swapped them out. The boat performs much better in close quarters with the fixed prop; it’s an 18” LH 12 pitch prop on a Yanmar 3QM30 engine.
Just remember that, with the V-drive, our boats pull to starboard when you’re in reverse as opposed to pulling to port for most straight-drive boats, so you’re never going to be able to do a right-handed turn in close quarters. As my slip is a starboard tie, that’s not an issue; when I put the boat into reverse to slow into the slip, the stern pulls up to the finger pier nicely. — Fred Fred Street -- Minneapolis S/V Oceanis (1979 C&C Landfall 38) -- Bayfield, WI > On Jul 23, 2017, at 9:44 AM, Phygital via CnC-List <cnc-list@cnc-list.com> > wrote: > > Hi, > > We've been out a few times now on our 83 LF 38 hull 155, and I've noticed > she's somewhat of a cow in tight maneuvering.
