Josh, I do use a MacMaster shaft collar and it works well. The problem is that the PYI shaft collar does not slide easily on the prop shaft, so I can't push it aft to compress the bellows. Maybe some lubrication would help. And I won't loosen the PYI collar again on haul out, as your experience suggests.
