Put something on the shaft (between the collar and the coupling); e.g. a rubber hose cut to length and cut along.
Btw. Be careful; PYI says that you should not reuse the set screws. At least not the inner ones. Btw 2. I have a retention collar with much beefier set screws. This would also help in compressing the bellows. I'm now trying to compress the bellows again before launching - PYI recommends compressing it about 3/4 inch. It's difficult to compress the bellows and tighten the set screws at the same time, given the limited access to that area (under bilge and exhaust hoses). Any suggestions for holding the bellows compressed temporarily while I tighten the set screws?
