I have bought butyl tape at an RV outlet......comes on black, grey,
white and in different widths and thicknesses.....inexpensive. Have had
things sealed on the boat for over 10 years with this product and no issues.
I don't know what the difference is between marine butyl tape and RV
butyl tape except the marine stuff is a lot more expensive.
Was doing a gelcoat repair and needed some filler......went to the
Binnacle....their 3M filler with a green label (marine) was $50. Went to
Canadian Tire and their 3M filler (automotive) with a red label was
$10. When you read the ingredients, they are identical. Did the repair
job with the $10 stuff 8 years ago......no issues.
