Many boats in the South have awnings over the boom to provide shade on the cabin and deck. Awnings range from nice commercially made ones to some PVC pipe and a cheap tarp.
Other folks have tried keeping the cabin top and deck wet with a spray of water. Every little bit helps. Dennis C.
