Interesting! "I make sure I have the pump handle set right next to the closed position detent but I don't engage it. Leaving it fully locked puts pressure on the rubber piston pushing it against a small ridge and if you leave it like that for a long period will permanently indent the rubber seal area and cause it to leak."
We use our toilet very infrequently. If we're at the marina we use the marina toilets (unless it's the middle of the night). When we had the boat in Toronto we mostly NEVER used it with the exception of longer cruises or weekends. So, very infrequent use. I figured that the infrequent use was part of the culprit of our failing pump (at only 4 years old with minimal use seems a disappointment) - so yeah, the above is very handy info. Thanks!
