We just redid some of ours as there were suspected leaks, and did the same as danny suggested below. Stanchion bases are tight now, leaks fixed. Butyl is the way to go Imho. (And check for soft spots nearby while you are at it- we had a couple and they were fixed at the same time.) still one slightly bent stanchion to deal with...next winter's project .
