Dave,

Do a Google image search for “Rutgerson Batten Wedges” it will show you what
you need to look for.

Subject: Stus-List Batten receptacles - huh?

You guys have been great with helping me get my recently-acquired 34+ sorted
out. Couldn't have gotten as far as I have without you!

So on to the next mystery. I really wasn't expecting an issue getting the
mainsail on, but the batten receptacles have me stumped.

The boat has full battens and a harken mainsail luff car system, with pins
that go through little fabric loops sewn into the luff of the sail.

The issue I'm having is with how the battens are supposed to be secured. They
slide into their pocket from the luff, and there is a receptable marked
"Rutgerson" that I assume is supposed to hold the front end of the batten
somehow.

There is a short length of webbing attached to the receptable, which I again
assume is supposed to go over the end of the batten and provide a means of
tensioning it. BUT, there doesnt appear to be any way to make it fast! No
Velcro, no grommets, no buckles or shackles, etc.

Here is a pic of the top batten slid into the pocket showing the receptacle &
strap:

Anyone else have this system & care to shed some light? A google search
didn't turn up anything useful

Thanks!

Dave
