The most accurate method would be to do a "rubbing" with crayon, i.e. like an elementary school gravestone rubbing, and scanned at full scale. The gentleman on the list with CAD/CAM capabilities could trace this in Adobe Illustrator or CAD and used as a base file for CAM. Just remember to get the depth of the letters measured and thickness of the plate with calipers.
