I got a boat liability policy from my home and auto insurance carrier (Erie) when I had my MacGregor 26C. A boat of that size for recreational sailing is easy to cover. BoatUS is fine but probably more than you need. I thought SeaTow was just for coming to help (tow, gas, etc). You can get boatus towing insurance but they call the nearest towing service. Maybe boatus, maybe seatow, maybe someone else. No guarantee who and no guarantee that they are available or willing.
The one time we needed a tow we called boatus. We have their unlimited towing. We needed diesel. SeaTow brought 2 5gal jugs of diesel. We paid over the phone the following day. Charged us $5/gal and $10 each for 2 short morring lines used to make the transfer. $10 each for the 2 old and leaking 5 gallon jugs. Later boatus informed us of the amount he charged them....over $600 to make the delivery! I'm more careful about keeping the fuel full now.
