I did. I went to turn it on and I got nothing. I got suspicious and looked at
the top of the mast. Big black burn mark where the VHF antenna used to be.
Apparently the lightning ground did not save the switch or the antenna, so off
to Worst Marine I went to replace them. The VHF itself survived though :)

Edd,

It's strange for the switch to go like that.
Check the wire between the positive side of the battery and the switch for
corrosion or breakage.
Is your voltmeter part of your boat instruments?
If the voltmeter shows good voltage on the battery the ground wire should be
OK, if it reads "0" check your negative side wiring to the DC ground.

Subject: Stus-List Ever Have a Battery-Selector Switch Go Bad?

Listers,

Has anyone ever had a Battery-Selector Switch go bad on them?

Strange thing happened on the Enterprise last night after racing
and preparing to go home. As I moved the selector from ALL to Battery 1,
everything shut down. Going back to ALL or Battery 2, everything came back on
again.

I checked the voltage on 1 before I left and saw 12.35 volts (we
were running lights and all for a while post-racing.) Certainly enough to power
the lights that I had switched on.

My first guess is that it's the switch, but I'd welcome any
suggestions or other things to investigate from the wisdom of the group.

                All the best,

                Edd
