I thought I'd share an update on reliability of the Nicro vents. My three year old day / night solar vent failed shortly after launch this year. I changed the battery over thinking it had been damaged during the winter, but that didn't work and it turned out to be the motor. Replacement is $170+, but... if you call Marinco customer service (800 307 6702) they will sell you a service kit for the vent - with a new motor, o-rings, screws, fan blades and screens for $25 (~$30 including shipping). That is basically everything that might wear out except the solar panel, and makes the maintenance of these vents very worthwhile.
