All,

Honestly, I have been very, very happy with the battery-powered Caframo
crew fans. They take four D batteries and are very powerful as well as
portable. They say you can get up to 300 hours of power from them on a fresh
set of batteries. They have a high/low setting and a variable speed control
knob.

And, as a real shocker, the lowest price I found for them, far lower
than Defender, was at West Marine
(http://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--battery-powered-crew-fans--P012_361_002_504).
 $20.

I have four on board and we move them around to whatever area of the
boat we are using, which is far better than trying to catch a breeze from a
mounted fan. They are especially great when working in tight spaces in New
York’s July and August.

        All the best,

        Edd
