Some of it is a chicken-and-egg thing. The last time we had a boat that drew less than 5 feet was around 1973, so I have very little memory of anchoring in places 4 feet deep. If you always had a 7 foot draft boat then you never went anyplace 6 feet deep. If you change from shallow to deep then you suddenly can’t go places that you are used to going.
